A xenon conversion headlight can provide up to 300 percent more light than a usual halogen bulb. Moreover, the life span of a xenon headlight is much bigger than the life expectancy for standards bulbs. In a xenon headlamp, the arc spans only a few millimeters, while additions of other elements like mercury, salts of sodium and scandium improve the lumen output significantly. Also, depending on temperature, there are different colors a xenon bulb can have. The reason is the response given to electrical current by the xenon filled bulbs: the higher the current, the more the color changes. Usual colors are golden yellow, white, blue, purple and the highest color possible, violet.

When replacing your halogen headlight bulbs with xenon bulbs you must check if your car is already HID equipped. If not, you must use ballasts, HID bulbs and the amp fuses needed for startup. Also, igniters are also required, if not built in the ballasts. This additional equipment usually comes with the HID kit you purchase. Although headlamps come in many different shapes and sizes, HID kits are customized so they meet the specific requirements of the vehicle they are designed for, which makes them easy to install. Most of the HID Kits are user friendly plug and play devices. You just have to remove the car's hood, take out the old standard bulbs and replace them with the new xenon bulbs in your HID kit. The importance of Xenon based HID Kits is that they offer a better safety standard when having to deal with harsh weather conditions or night driving.
